PHISHING POLL, VOL. 12: BEST FLORIDA SHOW

With the announcement of Phish's return to Miami for this year's NYE run -- which will mark the fourth time they have celebrated the New Year in the Sunshine State (third time in Miami) -- we thought we'd ask you about your favorite Florida Phish show. While there are some obvious front runners (one brought to mind by the recent leak of a certain video . . . ), there are other contenders that shouldn't be hastily overlooked. So share with us your thoughts. Participate. Rank.

Thanks. That should probably say "Miami."
, comment by white_lightning
white_lightning I mean, it's not really a fair contest.

Phish NYE is always going to be fun. But Big Cypress was an experience outside of the realm of even a Phish NYE concert. No matter how far in the rear view mirror it gets -- we're rapidly approaching 15 years -- it has remained one of those few experiences in my life that I can't really put into words.

n00b100 I'm certainly not crazy enough to say anything except 12/31/99 should top this list and anything except 11/14/95 should be second, but I am crazy enough to say 12/30/03 is a pretty easy and respectable third on this list.

napoleon P-funk medley is the LEAST "representative song or jam" from 12/30/2003. The first 3 quarters made that show great.

grapeapplepies It's 10-2-14, throw on 10-2-99 the oywd> piper> Yem is bomb!

theothr1 WWWWWHHHHHHHOAH!!!...hahaha, how in holy hell is La Grange the "representative" tune from 8-2-93???....it's 8-2-93, for chrissake!!!!

My goodness, are you going to be okay? I could pull up a fainting couch.

Or you could also suggest a different track you feel passionate about. I think we could figure out how to drop it in.

MiguelSanchez Cypress be damned. 11/14/95 is definitely my favorite show from the state of Florida.

jbuswellchar I'd spotlight the 10/22/94 Split. It's terrific.

whatstheuse324 Thank you SOOO much for posting the Big Cypress pro shot link! That is just awesome.
, comment by title3jimi
title3jimi It's sort of hard to even include Big Cypress in this conversation. All are standard 2 set shows (save 2 NYEs), Big Cypress is the holy grail of the Phish catalog.

It's clearly the best and greatest show ever to happen in Florida. That being said, I'd rather listen to a lot of the other shows on the list.
, comment by nichobert
nichobert 11/14/95 for that quality

12/31/99 wins...but it's still a 99 show.
, comment by FACTSAREUSELESS
FACTSAREUSELESS 12/29/03 is a standout. Not saying it should be higher on the list, but I'm glad it's on the list at least.

Let's hope that at least two shows from this upcoming run rival those listed here.

chapter2unit4 I've always been a big fan of 8.2.93 (and August 93 in general).

Great Gin, supercharged Mike's, and a nice Antelope-> Makisupa Reprise-> Antelope sandwich. Those are the highlights but the show is overall just real solid and on point.

Agreed. Even better, you can enjoy it in one sitting without having to burn a vacation day.
, comment by peterb
peterb I would think the boatyard show would show up in a top 10. I assume not many folks have heard it, or maybe I just haven't heard it in a real long time. Anyway, it seemed like an over the top show for its time.
