Video of the Week: 2012-08-19 Crosseyed and Painless

"Crosseyed and Painless" opens the second set at the Bill Graham Civic Arena for the final night of a three show run in Phishs' first shows at this venue. In what became one of the most talked about and well received sets of the Summer, this impeccably played Crosseyed was stunning. The knock-your-socks off jamming beautifully segued into several minutes of type-II which was simply majestic. Be sure to watch the remainder of the set including the Crosseyed and Painless Reprise as this is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

I don't think I'd be too upset if they opened every second set with Crosseyed. They kill it.

I was at all three shows and while friday and saturday were awesome, sunday they blew the roof off of the joint. Set 2 will go down as one of the best sets ever

amazing night!

the phish 2012 nye run has been silently announced at the .com, and the .net is not running the story. a few days now.

maybe they'll concentrate on the compositions again and return to brief jams. lol.

once again, this cross-eyed is the first chapters of one of the highlights of the year.

from like 11:35 on.....best Phish i've heard 3.0.....it's not always about shreddin, the synchronization and listening skills it takes to achieve this and not to mention 29 years of practicing.....it's simply making me Crosseyed & Painless!!!!

Yup 11:35 is a grrreeeat timestamp here.

Still, best of 3.0's competition, when it comes down to little thematic movements like this is just insanely stiff.

Something like 5 minutes into the Dicks Piper that nobody talks about. Or the Steep jam from SPAC. The DJ Shadow jam from the Gorge Rock & Roll.

I've listened to Fall 95 & Summer 97's jams in sequential order over the last month or so, and I have no problem whatsoever saying that the actual improvisation right now is as strong or stronger than ever. So patient yet so restless. Constantly loping through different dimensions of space & time, smelling the roses all the while.
