jaredprox Jam out of Fee isn't unprecedented. Watch this from Inglewood, 2.14.03 for example.

Maybe I'm just being a d-bag, but I don't find this 7.1.12 jam overly impressive. They don't lock in and play as a cohesive group until the 9:00 minute mark when Fish picks it up. Up until then, it's just kind of separate wanking.

Don't get me wrong--it's a nice first set surprise--I just don't want to set the "pure bliss" Phish bar too low. As far as first set surprises go, the Roses jam from Worcester qualifies: A little more unexpected, locked-groove, first set gem.

It's been 20+ years and Phish still blows my mind regularly. Is it any wonder why we're obsessed? Nothing compares.

Poizon45 I was there and the guy behind me had been to 182 shows and this was his first Fee. I gave him a huge high five! Phish made his night, probably his week and month too.

All this raving about the fee and I wanted to see what it was all about.
Interesting see cause the player in me didnt think that it really amounted
to more than a very spirited vocal delivery in spite of the inability to remember the chords.
And so you got a very very Jerry moment in that other than getting the words;
his response was to play a saving grace style one of a kind fee jam.
This is why we liked Jerry in the eighties cause he would always slam
after he made an arrangement blunder quickly switching and bringing thunder.
So, it also makes for a more interesting tale as Phish tries to retain the glory.
Cause even when he is off Trey can still tell the story. ;)
