Less than a week away!

So much magic has happened in Worcester over the years. Who could forget: Hour long Runaway Jim, entirety of New Year's 1993, Ghost 1997-11-28, Stash -> Free -> Jam -> Piper 1997-11-30, The Real Me -> Bathtub Gin 1995-12-29, Chalkdust -> Mirror in the Bathroom -> Chalkdust 1998-11-27 ? Yet, there are dozens more that you pick out as definitively Phishy moments from Worcester. What's your favorite? There's no doubt that this mesmerizing Harry Hood would make many top ten lists, not just of Worcester, but of all time Harry Hoods. The excitement mounts. See you in Worcester!

andrewrose Been to most of the shows in Worcester since 97.. and to that list I would add:

Curtain, YEM-> I Didn't Know on 11/28/97 and the YEM opener on 2/26/03.

Both YEMs are two of my all time favourites. 11/28/97 is pure laid back fall 97 funk, and the lines Trey comes up with once Mike and Fish have the groove laid down are pure gold. C&P teases. For 2/26/03, aside from the fact that it was the first proper YEM opener since 1989 at the time, it has what's probably my fave extended drums&bass / Mike solo to cap it off. It's ridiculous. Parallels to the other show's I Didn't Know vocal segue too with the Clone vocal jam.

Actually there are a lot of parallels between those two shows. Besides big Ghosts in the second set, the first sets both feature BEK/Moma and Maze. But in terms of Worcester/career highlights, I'd put the 2/26/03 versions of both on the list. These are my *all time* favourites of both songs.

And I'll throw in the 11/29/98 Bathtub Gin. Did they play a single Gin in 98 that was anything less than spectacular?

See you all in 6 days.

Just a heads up that the Stash -> Free -> Jam -> Piper was from 11/30/97, not 11/30/90 as linked above.

I caught this right away, cause 11/30/97 was my very first Phish show and I haven't been the same since! Incredible night. In addition to the previously mentioned songs, this show also has one of, if not the best, Funky Bitch ever. Also an epic 30+ minute Wolfman's, where during a crazy "heavy metal-esque jam", Trey asks Kuroda to shut all the lights out to see how it sounds in complete darkness. The Wolfman's doesn't come across quite as epic when you hear it now, but at the show, it was certainly a mindblower. I couldn't see my friend standing right next to me, it was totally lights out and nuts. For a first timer, I was awestruck...

See ya next week!

IamHIGHdrogen To all the Pt haters, whether you like "3.0" or not, how can you not agree that this is indeed an epic Hood? It's everything you want it to be; well-played, innovative, patient, heavy, beautiful... It sounds good, it looks good and it feels good. What else could you want? Bravo on the video of the week pick, boys. Cannot be more excited to see what's in store for us next week and beyond.

Ps. Since im a 2.0 noob my favorite Worcester moment would have to be getting a YEM opener at my first ever Phish show. Incredible.

I agreed entirely with HARRYHOOD213. I remember looking at my brother in law and asking him something along the lines of "Is this real?" All he could do was nod...

SCHOOLofPHISH This is a great version but I would have to say the HOOD from Chicago 8/15/11 is my favorite 3.0 version and towards the top of the list of my all time favorites. If you haven't heard it I would give the whole show a listen to, second set and encore are incredible

duggy My experience with Worcester magic:
11/28/97
- The Curtain followed by my favourite YEM
- raging 2nd set Ghost

11/29/97
- Runaway Jam (did anything else happen this night?!? HA!)

11/30/97
- Funkiest Bitch EVER!
- HEAVY METAL Jam in Wolfman's -- *exact same* jam I heard two years earlier that was thrown out on the ending of Scent of a Mule before Lifeboy at the Mullins Centre, Amherst, MA, 12/5/95 -- CHECK IT OUT! It's the same jam!
- Stash > Free > Jam > Piper! (this is my 2nd or 3rd favourite Stash, after 7/2 (#1) and 6/19 (contestant for #2)

11/27/98
- first Buried Alive set opener I caught, and it rages!
- WIPE OUT!
- as mentioned, the Chalkdust > Mirror > Torture > Dog Log was SUPER FUN!
- Mike's GROOVE! Wonderful move into I Am Hydrogen (oddly, first Hydrogen I ever caught), and the Weekapaug kills with an amazing jam that ends, and then the band starts again only to head out into some crazy open territory ...

11/28/98
- love me a Gumbo opener, and the SOAM to close first set; Foam, I remember, was real nice too
- Prince Caspian -- seriously, only time I've ever really thought this tune RAGED! Seriously! Trey tears it up, and the the other guys dig deep

11/30/98
- Set I! (i.e. Limb > Catapult > Kung > Maze + guest tunes with Seth Yacovone -- electric Layla!)
- Set II! (i.e. HEAVIEST Simple I've ever heard! Gin and YEM were stellar, and Roggae was beautiful in the encore

Looking forward to this week! My wife and I are taking our 17 year old daughter to her first PHISH show, and this is our first show since Hartford 2000! I'm stoked!

terrapin9614 absolutely loved 2/26/03, even though the 28th gets more press (rightly so) for the Destiny bustout and the Tweezer. But the 26th had the YEM opener followed by the solo projects set (CLONE!!), and the best Moma Dance ever, plus excellent versions of Maze, Stash, and a Ya Mar with Low Rider jam! totally unbelieveable night
