Classic, fun & memorable show was 15 years ago this month at The Spectrum in Philadelphia on 12-29-1996.

In addition to this monster You Enjoy Myself sandwiching both a Rotation Jam and the debut and only performance of Sixteen Candles, this show also boasts Champagne Supernova with Tom Marshall and an epicly evil rendition of Harpua.

The vibe during the nights running up to New Year's Eve are always electric and there's usually something special happening at each and every show. In addition to this video that has recently surfaced, another high quality audio source has surfaced on eTree. Watch the video, listen to the show, and enjoy the frenetic energy as Fish bangs on the keys, Trey wails on Fishs' kit, Page drops some deep bass bombs, and Mike works the lower frets of Trey's axe....and then rotate! Fish can drop bombs too! It's a fun video and makes one excited for the MSG run in a scant few days.

Every Friday, we highlight a video with a brief recap of the show it is from and what makes it interesting, noteworthy or simply fun. With the help of Dan Saewitz from Phishvids.com, we hope to keep the stream of videos coming at you entertaining and interesting. Have a cool video you’d like to suggest? DoktahgonzoNice to finally get to see this video. I can remember back in the XLII days listening to this in my car, listening for the changes on the rotation jam (which was better executed than others) and all the energy that went with the crowd during the madness of it all. How many other bands could EVER possibly pull this kind of shit off, especially in the midst of what is an otherwise extremely complex song like YEM?

RandomPhanGreat video, someone needs to fix the audio - it's way off.

docgonzoThere used to be incredibly crappy sounding video of this that was in sync, now it sounds a little better and is way out of sync. Hopefully somebody can grab the new audience recording and put it all together.

Phrank518Yes audio is way off...would love to hear it all fixed up. Trey is on the drums and still ripping it up on guitar at the same time...I guess he really is a jedi.

DollarBillGreat times in Phish history. This is great to see, agreed the sync is off, but very cool. I only caught the Pittsburgh and Grand Rapids shows that fall, wish I could've done more.

Memories, memories....my beautiful memorieeeeeees! (barbershop, of course)

MDosqueMy first show. I reviewed it on this site and still to this day, can't get the image of that person in a full body Gumby suit out of my head. I walked in next to him/her. I was 15 and the whole experience blew my mind. Many great shows later, I still consider this one extra special. The whole Rotation Jam actually translated amazing live and at the time was seamless. The video doesn't do it justice. Really great stuff. The Harpua from this show is stellar too, and at the time, I agree with forbin1, I had no clue what this weird story was all about, but it made sense. Thanks for posting this video. What a nice little memory...15 years ago? Wow.
