Phish on Spotify

The online music service Spotify has taken the US by storm since being made available in mid-July 2011. While still an invite-only service, invites are not hard to find if you want one. It boasts catalogs of music from most of the major labels and some independant and smaller labels as well. In addition, sites like digster.fm, ShareMyPlaylists, and Rhinofy have made it easy to find great playlists and become exposed to all sorts of music you have never heard of as well as music you have not listened to in years. One of Spotify's great features is the ability to share playlists and subscribe to other playlists very easily. The Facbook connect feature gives you quick access to all of your Facebook friends' playlists which you can listen and even subscribe to.

Phish has quite an extensive selection of music available on Spotify, although there are some gaps. Lawn Boy and Joy do not appear in the catalog, but all of the other studio CDs are there. Any of the livephish.com shows that have been re-released in remastered form are there, as are all of the other official live releases like Colorado 88, Live at The Roxy, Vegas 96 and more. The entire original Live Phish CD series is there as well, all 20 shows.

To make it easier to discover what Phish is available on Spotify, I have created some playlists that are public and can be subscribed to. There are also a couple of Phish-related playlists that exist and I have included links to those as well. Two of them are collaborative playlists, which means any user can add tracks to it.

I was able to create a spotify account WITHOUT an invite. They let me register because I was on facebook (I think also because I have fb friends who already had spot accounts too).

If you don't have an invite, just go to Spotify and try to register. You'll prolly be fine.

just register via the facebook link on the spotify site and make sure you invite other friends when it asks you too and you'll get an automatic invite afterwards. shits awesome people

another amazing thing about the Phish series on Spotify are the Live Phish series I-XX. Since I own all the original cd's that contain the filler I never sought out digital downloads of them. I realized after looking on Spotify that all 20 LP releases contain an extra soundcheck or bonus track. I love listening to Phish's soundcheck jams - nobody's listening or watching and they can do whatever they want. Some highlights are:
- Spooky, LP12, 14min
- Columbus Jam, LP10, 6min
- Glenn Falls Jam> Landlady> Jam, LP13, 13min
- Overload, LP15, 9min
- The Way I Feel Jam, LP17, 10min
- Alpine Jam, LP5, 10min
