Phish’s history of performances stretches two years shorter than the Grateful Dead’s so far, but already includes more shows (by several hundred), peak years with nearly double the Dead’s peaks, and half as many sudden drops (whereas some years the Dead played fewer and/or shorter tours).
On the other hand, Phish has had more years with no shows, whereas the Dead took a "hiatus" during 1975 but played several shows that year. Moreover, excluding their festivals, Phish tours typically hit arenas and sheds, avoiding the stadiums that became a key element of Dead tour. Finally, Phish's performance count has been trending downward for over two decades, while the Dead generally trended upwards for three.

Yes, the actual number of shows performed each year would be nice though...
apples and oranges brah
That doesn't sound right...
The world turns on the frequency of things, and on explanations for variable frequencies. If you're a foe of comparison, you've come to the wrong place.
1977 = 60 shows
1978 = 80 shows
1979 = 75 shows
1980 = 86 shows
1981 = 82 shows
1982 = 61 shows
1983 = 66 shows
1984 = 64 shows
1985 = 71 shows
I'll stop there. This data is so far off it isn't even worth analyzing.
Phish = 1500+
BB King = 15,000+
Damn BB's fingers must be tired
